I think family traditions are such a crucial thing to hold onto. Sometimes they prove to be difficult to organize, more work than you think it's worth and perhaps an unappreciated event, but holdfast, they matter.
My family and I have camped at Grundy Lake Provincial Park every Thanksgiving for almost as long as I can remember, and have shared this holiday with great friends and family. We've seen generations flow to the next and loved ones pass where there memory carries through the years to come.
We've persevered through the snow and embraced summer like temperatures, fished the lake while the snow flew as well as batted bugs that also loved the warm weather!
We've shared with as many as 50 people the feast of turkey, many versions of potatoes and vegetables, wine and pies spread out across picnic tables linked together dressed with fresh fallen leaves.
I have such fond memories of this park and hold them dear to my heart. I truly think that it has helped mould my great love of the outdoors and even though now it takes nearly a week to prepare the trip for my own family of 7, I can't imagine a Thanksgiving without this wonderful tradition. We are truly blessed.

Old things new
My husbands grandmother recently moved from her home of many years. She asked me to come and have a look in her basement to see if there was anything that I wanted to keep. I saw this lamp and began to dream of what it could be - a little paint and a new shade and I am thrilled! Better yet, there were two! ~ Old things can be new again ~
